…Really really enjoyed this week’s presentation – the first of many! The group talked about Kader Attia and Tatiana Trouve, and I felt they conveyed their ideas and evaluations really effectively. I came away feeling that I had a good grasp on what these (previously unknown to me) artists were all about. I found it hard to warm to Trouve’s work, although it did make me think about how an artist’s work can work better as a collective in an exhibition, as opposed to separate pieces in isolation. I loved the ephemeral quality of Kader Attia’s work, especially when you consider that art can take on a life, or duration of its own. The Halal piece really got me thinking about urban society and identity, and possible ways we might be able to integrate this theme into our own group exhibition…
