In the class today some other students gave a presentation on Kader Attia and Tatiana Trouvé. I’m not sure that I’m too impressed with Trouvé’s work although Attia’s is very interesting. He seems to like provoking a bit of controversy! I think everyone in the group likes his work so perhaps we’ll be able to incorporate his work or some of his ideas into our exhibition. After the presentation and discussion we had another look at our blog. There still aren’t any common themes emerging but I suppose it’s still early days and it’s really interesting seeing what other members of the group like. The subject is so vast though and it does worry me that we’ll never be able to agree upon a theme. I don’t think it’s fair to inflict a theme upon everyone else and just expect them to go along with it. In a project, which requires a lot of independent work I think it’s essential that each group member feels strongly about the theme. It’s great working in such a balanced group, everybody, so far seems to be pulling their weight and is equally as keen. I think that we’re all very strong characters so hopefully the outcome will be a really well thought out and united piece of work and not the product of a power struggle!
